Guidelines

- General reasons for disqualification:
- Applicant does not meet the deadlines for application or phase submission.
- Work submitted in Phase 1 or Phase 2 of the program is not original and/or is completed with the aid of an additional party.
- Applicant contacts the Discovery Science Center directly.
- All inquiries should be directed to scholarship@burnsmarketing.com.
- Materials must be uploaded before noon MT on the submission deadline date(s). For a complete list of deadlines, refer to the deadline calendar. Late submissions will not be accepted.
- All entries become the property of Burns Marketing Communications. By participating in this program, you hereby release all rights to concepts, designs, and copy produced for the Discovery Science Center to Burns Marketing Communications.
- Name/Photo release
- By participating in this program, you hereby irrevocably consent to and authorize the use, reproduction, and publication by Burns Marketing Communications and anyone authorized by Burns Marketing Communications of any and all photos, images, and video taken of you during activities associated with Spark for any purpose whatsoever without compensation to you.
- You understand that your name, image, and likeness in any form of communication may be published in any media for an unlimited period of time.
- You may be asked to participate in media interviews and publicity opportunities related to the scholarship program.

Winner notification and scholarship distribution
- Winners of Spark will be notified the week of November 26, 2007.
- The monetary award will be made payable to the university/graduate school of choice and the recipient.
- The university/graduate school will require the student’s social security number and/or student identification number, along with student’s signature to process the check. Finalists will be asked to supply proper identification information to Burns Marketing Communications when they arrive for their presentations during Phase 3.
- The award will be mailed following winner notification directly to the university/graduate school indicated on the applicant’s application for the spring semester of the 2007 – 2008 academic year.
- If the university/graduate school of original choice is changed, the winner must notify Burns Marketing Communications before checks are issued.
- If notification of school change is received after checks are issued, the bank cancellation service charge will be deducted from the award check.
- Burns Marketing Communications reserves the right to discontinue the program at any time.
